Manager held over use of fake document in membership bid


MELAKA: The 56-year-old manager of a construction company has been remanded for five days over the alleged use of a forged document in a membership application to the Melaka Council of Datuks.

The remand order until Saturday (Nov 12) was issued by magistrate Mazana Sinin here on Tuesday (Nov 8).

It is learnt that the suspect allegedly conspired with the manager of a tour company, who has a Datuk title, to submit a membership application to the council by providing false information.

The suspect was detained when he turned up for questioning at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at Alai here at 3pm on Monday (Nov 7).

The suspect is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which is also punishable under Section 24 (1) of the law, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine if found guilty.
